Maine has thousands of square miles of wilderness. Throughout the four seasons, millions of visitors come to our state to enjoy some of the most pristine outdoor areas east of the Mississippi. But the same features that make our wilderness such an attraction also present challenges in the event of illness, injury, or lost persons. Maine has a robust volunteer search and rescue system, managed by the Maine Warden Service and consisting of over a dozen highly trained teams.
Join Matthew Silverio and Jonathan Ward from Coastal Mountain Search and Rescue, a Lincolnville-based team, for a presentation on the role of search and rescue in managing wilderness emergencies.
